Crypto has revolutionized financial systems, but it has also become a target for governments and traditional financial actors.
In a joint blog post, Google and Mozilla said they are encouraging other technology companies to join in extending the ability for people to pay with cryptocurrencies as part of their service.
Other technology companies have been discussing a potential standard on how to use cryptocurrencies.
The joint announcement, from Google and Mozilla, said:
"We believe that consumer acceptance and protection of digital transactions is an important part of a healthy and sustainable financial system.
"All the major financial institutions have acknowledged that they expect consumer acceptance of digital payments to grow. However, as with any new technology, there are still important issues to be addressed.
"We applaud the role that cryptocurrency and blockchains play in advancing financial inclusion. We hope that the industry will come together and address those issues."
